Diaxxo provides devices and test cartridges for fighting Schistosomiasis in Zanzibar

Schistosomiasis, a neglected tropical disease, affects more than 200 million people every year in more than 70 countries worldwide. Zanzibar is among the first settings in sub-Saharan Africa where elimination of urogenital schistosomiasis seems feasible and where elimination efforts implemented since 2012 have successfully reduced the prevalence and infection intensity to very low levels. In order to achieve the ultimate goal of schistosomiasis elimination, Zanzibar plans to implement the “test, treat and track” (T3) strategy, in which a large part of the population will be tested and treated for Schistosomiasis.

Thanks to our collaboration with Swiss TPH, we will be the exclusive provider of diagnostic instrumentation (devices and cartridges) for the mobile laboratories that will be set up in schools across the island.
